Jonathan commenced a career as a consultant ecologist in 2005 following on from a period conducting post-doctoral research. Previously he was one of two Principal Ecologists leading a team of more than 20 ecologists, managing large-scale development projects including ES chapters for wind farms, minerals extraction, Energy from Waste, Ecological Clerk of Works and conservation studies. Jonathan has detailed knowledge of statutory requirements in relation to large and small scale developments gained from the many planning applications he has assisted with and has also acted as an expert witness in planning appeals. His ecological expertise covers protected mammals and amphibians. He has held numerous survey licences issued by Scottish Natural Heritage including those for great crested newt, freshwater pearl mussel and otter.

Jonathan Fairbairn PhD, MCIEEM

rob

Rob began working as an ecologist in 2004. Prior to establishing FDM Ecology he worked as a self-employed consultant for private clients as well as providing services for some of Scotland’s largest consultancies. Rob holds a bat licence issued by SNH and he also delivers surveys and assessments for protected mammals, birds and habitats. He has conducted numerous assessments for large and small scale housing developments, infrastructure projects, on-shore wind farms and conservation studies. Rob has wide experience in the role of an Ecological Clerk of Works, including overseeing works in ecologically sensitive areas and where work has been conducted under protected species disturbance licences.
